What is OTP?

The full name of OTP is One Time Password and is also known as One Time Pin.

OTP is a type of security code (password) by which a user is authenticated as valid. This password can only be used once.

OTP is faster and safer than traditional password based authentication. And 2-Step-Authentication is done by OTP for different types of tasks. This method is a great way for both the user and the organization to test each other.

This password is automatically generated by the system. Which is a special string of 4-8 characters of number, word, special sign etc. This special series can be valid for 10 seconds to half an hour. After this it becomes illegal. And this cannot authenticate the user.

To authenticate the user, OTP is sent to the user both online and offline. SMS, Email, Messenger are used in digital form. And for offline, the paper is sent to the user's address and sent by post.


Use of OTP: -

OTP is used for many functions including net banking. And during the transaction of money, OTP is sent to the mobile for confirmation.

OTP is sent to the mobile number while completing the payment process while shopping online.

OTP message is sent to the registered mobile number at the time of many tasks of daily life such as buying a new SIM card.

To identify the right user while login, OTP Bank, Google, Amazon, Filipkart etc. e-commerce website and other digital wallet services Paytm, Freecharge are also done.

OTP is also used for reactivation.

For security, OTP is sent to use multiple accounts in one device.
